I got to watch Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil last night while I was working. It is a Basque film that retells a classic fable about a blacksmith battling it out with a devil. In this movie, a blacksmith named Paxti has captured Sartael - a devil en route to claim his soul - and has secluded himself away from the townsfolk until one day a little girl named Usue accidentally stumbles into the scenario and unwittingly lets him out. Beware as there are: SPOILERS AH
This is not really a review of the movie, but there are... SPOILERS AHEAD!! Whether you liked Predator or not for your own reasons, I found there was a huge similarity in the story that was akin to another movie that kept sticking out to me like a sore thumb the first time I watched it in theaters, and I haven't talked to anyone else who caught it yet. Were you able to catch it?? Here's a hint, it's an animated movie. Still no? Well, here you go... It was just like: Ah yes...
Alright, here's the drill... do NOT read if you don't want to know any spoilers. ** Spoilers ** The other day I went to see the 3rd movie for Hotel Transylvania. Having seen the first 2 movies (and really enjoyed them) I found myself waiting in anticipation for this 3rd film to come out. Hotel Transylvania follows Drac (Adam Sandler) along his journey as he learns to let go as a parent and realizing that his daughter is growing up. The first 2 films focused on Drac and Johnny
After the train wreck of The First Purge, I really wanted a palette-cleanser and, well, I was up waiting for my laundry to finish anyway, so I took my chances on Netflix, and I came across this movie. Tau is a sci-fi thriller starring Maika Monroe, Ed Skrein, and Gary Oldman voicing the AI named Tau, directed by Federico D'Alessandro, and was released on June 29 on Netflix. Look out because there are... SPOILERS AHEAD!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! THE GOOD I thought this film ha
So I finally caught up with all the Star Wars films since The Last Jedi is now on Netflix. I know I've waited way too long to see it and despite hearing some bad things about it, I was still excited to watch it. Alright, with that out of the way, I'm a lot upset with the weird inconsistencies that were going on throughout the film. The biggest things that bug me are the lack of world-building and strange plot holes. To be clear, I can easily suspend belief for fantasy worl
The Hooligans went to go see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in theaters tonight! What a ride it was! First off, I'm going to state that for the past decade or so, I've turned more cinephile than bibliophile. Film has taken hold of my heart which is why I got into filmmaking. So, to be clear, I have not read any of the Jurassic Park novels so my take on this is purely from my perspective as a movie lover and movie maker. Fallen Kingdom had an interesting premise to continu
Hooligan V and I went to go check out TAG last night, and man was it a fun one! It's another movie to leave the kids at home for and enjoy with your buddies. TAG is inspired by a real group of friends that have played the same game of Tag for the past 30 years well into adulthood across the country. The movie stars Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Isla Fisher, Hannibal Buress, Jeremy Renner, and Leslie Bibb and is directed by Jeff Tomsic. From the get-go
There's not really many movies where I don't have something critical to say, but this one does it for me! I got to take my family out to see it after the Father's Day weekend rush. Here's a quick review of Incredibles 2 that premiered last week! At the opening of the film, there was this strange PSA from the actors about the animation taking 14 years to come out with a sequel but will be worth it in the long run. I thought it was an odd way to begin a film, but they weren'
Upgrade is the latest from Blumhouse written and directed by Leigh Whannell starring Logan Marshall-Green and Betty Gabriel and premiered on June 1. It’s an action, sci-fi, horror film set in the near-future where technology controls nearly all aspects of life. It follows a technophobe (Logan Marshall-Green) who is implanted with a computer chip that allows him to seek out revenge after becoming a quadriplegic. It was an action-packed ride in the sci-fi world, and we reco
Solo: A Star Wars Story directed by Ron Howard starring Alden Ehrenreich, Joonas Suotamo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, and Donald Glover premiered last week. I finally got to see it despite news of having a not-so-stellar box office opening. After watching it, I can see where some fans could have been underwhelmed. Still, it wasn’t all bad, and it did have some good and fun moments. SPOILERS AHEAD!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! THE GOOD I will say that the second half of the
I laughed. I cried. I got mildly uncomfortable at the amount of penis I bore witness to. Not really; I enjoyed every minute of Reynolds’ nudity as per usual, and it was a great and fun movie to watch! Look out below because there are: SPOILERS AHEAD!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! THE GOOD Let’s be serious. It’s Deadpool! If he’s not your favorite thing on your lips after the first movie, then you’re not going to enjoy this one. But if you took his advice and didn’t swallow
Whew! We finally made it out to the theater despite running across a few spoilers here and there, but in the end they didn’t truly ruin the overall experience of the movie. This is definitely one you’ll want to see in the theaters if you haven’t yet. SPOILERS AHEAD!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! THE GOOD Infinity War was really well done! The blending of many characters (even similar ones) went a lot better than I had anticipated. The action sequences were on point, and the st
Hooligan V and I recently decided to finally take a look at Veronica on Netflix last Friday night. We’ve seen the PRs claiming people could not finish this movie. So we did a Live Video of us watching the movie for the first time so people can see a real first reaction rather than a planned out, censored version - albeith a bit of a beer-influenced one. If you haven’t seen the Live Video - no worries, here are some of our thoughts from our initial reactions. THE GOOD The c
